John Marshall High School has a great outdoor courtyard where students can hangout during their breakfast and lunch. There is a lot of research showing the benefits of being outdoors. Some of the benefits of spending time outdoors include reducing one's heart rate and blood pressure, lowering stress hormones, and easing muscle tension. Being outdoors can boost your mood and provides improvements in attention, memory and concentration. It also boosts mental and physical health.
School is stressful for students and students are facing more extreme levels of stress than they ever have. It's previously been stated that being outside reduces stress. When stress is reduced, immunity is boosted, students can better focus in their classes, and their overall mood, behavior, and academic performance will improve.
We would like to provide outdoor concrete activities for our students to promote spending time outside, having positive interactions with their peers, and having fun/de-stressing during breaks from their classes. This request is for a concrete cornhole set and three sets of cornhole beanbags.
Thank you for your consideration!
